How to set up a bonus pool for cleaners
A bonus pool works better than one-off bonuses because everyone can see the rules and the reward up front. You decide the total each month, the team earns points for the things you care about, and the pot splits by share of points. A cleaner with a quarter of the points takes a quarter of the pot.
Score what cleaners control
Arriving on time, earning a five-star rating, and turning a one-off client into a repeat booking are all in a cleaner’s hands. Callbacks for missed work are too, so they can cost points. Avoid scoring things like drive time or how many jobs you schedule them for.
Keep it to a few rules
Three or four point values are enough. If a cleaner can’t explain how they earned their bonus, the bonus isn’t changing behaviour.
Pay monthly and reset
A monthly season keeps the reward close to the work, and a fresh start means a bad month doesn’t follow anyone around. In this calculator a bad month floors at zero points, so nobody owes money.
